Mental Health Awareness
Breaking stigma. Starting conversations. Checking in on each other.
Why it Matters
Mental health is one of the most undertalked topics among young people in America — and one of the most urgent. Teen anxiety, depression, and burnout are at record highs. Yet the stigma around asking for help or even starting a conversation keeps too many people suffering alone.
In May, YouthServeCLE dedicates the month to Mental Health Awareness. Students share real talk about the signs of struggle, spotlight organizations like The Missing Link that bridge gaps in mental health access, and reflect on the importance of checking in with friends. One post said it plainly: "The signs aren't always easy to spot. Check in with your friends — a simple conversation can make all the difference."
The school year wraps with an end-of-year photo dump celebrating the community built through a year of service — a reminder that connection itself is a form of mental health care.

Our Partners
The Missing Link
The Missing Link is a Cleveland nonprofit dedicated to bridging gaps in services and opportunities for underserved youth and families across the city. They provide mentorship, programming, and direct support that connects people with the resources they need to thrive. YouthServeCLE has spotlighted The Missing Link as a partner organization whose hands-on programs allow students to make a tangible difference in young people's lives.
The Gathering Place
The Gathering Place supports, educates, and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer — at no cost to participants. Through a wide range of programs including counseling, yoga, nutrition guidance, and peer support groups, they help people navigate the emotional and physical challenges of a cancer diagnosis. YouthServeCLE students can support The Gathering Place's events, fundraisers, and community programs that create connection and hope for those affected by cancer.
