Sustainability
5 events. Park cleanups, urban farms, and environmental action in Cleveland.
Why it Matters
Cleveland has more green space, waterways, and natural beauty than most people realize. Earth Month at YouthServeCLE means getting outside, rolling up sleeves, and taking care of the land that takes care of us.
In April 2025, students explored Cleveland's eco-friendly spots — from sustainable dining to community green spaces — and reflected on what it means to care for the earth we all share. Earth Day was a reminder that environmental action doesn't have to be far away. It's here, in Cleveland, in our neighborhoods.
In April 2026, YouthServeCLE lined up five service events around sustainability: park cleanups, urban farm support, environmental education, and more. Every event is a chance to log service hours, connect with the environment, and leave Cleveland a little better than you found it.
Clean, open spaces aren't just nice to look at — they're where we reset, breathe, and feel human again. Take care of the outdoors, and it'll take care of us.

Our Partners
Rid-All Green Partnership
Rid-All Green Partnership transforms abandoned urban land in Cleveland into thriving aquaponics farms, community gardens, and environmental education centers. Founded in the Kinsman neighborhood, they are pioneers in Cleveland's urban agriculture movement, providing fresh food, job training, and environmental literacy to the surrounding community. Volunteers help with planting, harvesting, composting, and educational programs that connect Clevelanders to sustainable food systems.
Another Chance of Ohio
Another Chance of Ohio transforms lives in Slavic Village through transitional housing, job training, education support, and wraparound community resources for individuals returning from incarceration or overcoming homelessness. Their holistic model focuses on sustainable independence, providing participants with the tools and support systems they need to rebuild stable, fulfilling lives. YouthServeCLE has partnered with ACOO to support community events and service projects that demonstrate Cleveland's commitment to second chances.
Edgewater Beach
Edgewater Beach is one of Cleveland's most beloved public spaces, stretching along the shores of Lake Erie in Edgewater Park. A gathering place for swimmers, families, runners, and community events, Edgewater is a crown jewel of Cleveland's lakefront. YouthServeCLE partnered with Edgewater for an Earth Month community clean-up, mobilizing 50+ student volunteers to pick up trash and protect the Lake Erie shoreline for everyone to enjoy.
Perk Plaza
Perk Plaza is a vibrant public green space in the heart of downtown Cleveland, located near East 12th and Euclid Avenue. Home to the beloved Walnut Wednesday food truck event and other community gatherings, Perk Plaza brings people together in one of the city's busiest corridors. YouthServeCLE volunteers helped clean and beautify Perk Plaza ahead of community events, making downtown Cleveland more welcoming for everyone.
Public Square
Public Square is the historic heart of downtown Cleveland, a 10-acre park and civic gathering space at the center of the city. Home to Food Truck Tuesday, holiday events, and year-round programming, Public Square is where Cleveland comes together. YouthServeCLE students have helped clean and prepare Public Square for community events, ensuring this iconic space shines for the thousands of Clevelanders who visit every week.
